About our grants

Our foundation is striving to make a difference within the community. We do so by providing support to local organizations that are already doing good work throughout the community. Grant applications are due March 31, 2021, to be considered for our April meeting, and September 30, 2021, to be considered for our October Meeting.


PROGRAM OVERVIEW

We invite area nonprofits, schools, and faith-based organizations to apply for grants between $500 - $1,500 in reliance upon these guidelines. 


Geographic Focus

The Salas Foundation’s aim is to help organizations stretch and have bigger impact in communities across the Central Valley. Specifically, grant applications will be considered from the following communities:

· Avenal

· Huron

· Stratford

· Kettleman City

· Firebaugh

· Mendota

· Visalia

· Hanford


Grant Categories

The Salas Foundation will support game-changing work that focuses on furthering our mission of improving lives, influencing change and creating opportunities through local and global partnership. Successful applications will demonstrate need and yield tangible and measurable results. Funds are available for program development/expansion, innovation, technology, equipment, and operational/overhead expenses.


Grant Levels 

Grant levels vary from year to year. In the most current year, January - December 2021, a total of at least $5,000 is available to be awarded to qualified recipients. Grant applications are reviewed on a biannual basis. Applications will be accepted during the current year with the following dates of consideration:

· March 31st for consideration at the April 2021 meeting

· September 30th for consideration at the October 2021 meeting

Award amounts will be based on:

  • Proposed project budget
  • Scope of project
  • Capacity of organization to successfully execute the project


Successful Applicants:

Successful applicants will be:

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations, local government agencies, or faith-based organizations which demonstrate: 

  • Community need
  • History of and/or commitment to working in the target community
  • Logical, reasonable and measurable goals, objectives, outcomes and evaluation methods
  • Feasibility and capacity to complete project within the one-year grant period, including timeline and budget


Programs, Activities and Organizations Not Considered for Funding

· Individuals

· Partisan political activity

· Fundraising events


Submission Process 

· First-time applicants, please submit:

  • Completed grant application 
  • 501(c)(3) IRS exemption letter

· Returning applicants, please submit:

  • Completed grant application

How To Apply

For all non-profits and faith-based organizations, please download the documents marked ORGANIZATIONS. If you are applying on behalf of a school please download the documents marked SCHOOLS.


Grant Report Forms will only need to be completed once you receive your grant from The Salas Foundation.

Las Aves Del Paraiso will be a safe place for survivors of sex trafficking to live, heal and find restoration in long-term housing and trauma-informed therapy, education, and vocational support.

Since recovery from sexual exploitation is a long-term process, Las Aves Del Paraiso will provide safety, community, and individualized life skills support to work through deep trauma and discover a healthy, purpose-filled life.

Refuge Armona

Strong Tower Ministries

Beginning in 2014, Refuge Armona began serving Armona’s youth by opening up the middle school gym twice per month for students to come spend time with friends and participate in activities. Over the course of the last 5 years this mission has grown to serving between 150-170 students each week. As the needs grew, the vision grew to purchasing a home that will be open daily.

  • Working in community alongside like-minded adults (volunteer leaders, committee members, donors and staff).
